[Seven arrives promptly, file in hand, and knocks or otherwise indicates her presence on the other side of the door. She is dressed in a pair of blue trousers, red jacket and cream shirt, with black, sturdy heels.]
[Thrawn answers the door moments after Seven arrives, dressed in a nicely cut but plain white uniform. He glances briefly at Seven, and the file in her hand, before moving to allow her to enter.]
[She nods in respect.] Thank you. [She hesitates for a second near a chair, she prefers standing as a rule, but most people would expect her to sit, so she does.] You may refer to me as Seven or Seven of Nine, if you wish.
[Thrawn sits down as well, studying Seven for a few moments before he speaks.]
Seven. [Thrawn seems to be thinking about that for a few more moments before his attention returns to her.] Is there anything in particular you think we should discuss first?
[She expected to be called on it, but doesn't particularly mind that he doesn't.] Most inmates would appreciate a view of their file, but if you have any queries to ask, I will answer.
It is mildly interesting that we are allowed to view our files. Although, I've come to see that rules on this ship are few and far between.
I do have questions, and a few requests, one of which is to have a look at my file. As for my questions... what do you expect of me, as your assigned inmate?
Keeping your file from you would make redemption more difficult while providing me with little advantage. It would not be efficient to do so.
Primarily, I expect good behaviour, inciting violence is unacceptable, partaking in violence will be taken on a case by case basis, as there are individuals on board who lack appropriate skills to control their baser instincts.
It is recommended, though not required, that you take up an occupation that you would find stimulating on an intellectual or emotional basis.
I do require honesty from you, the matters that we will discuss will be uncomfortable, but necessary for our work. Please trust that I bring them up not to amuse myself but to assist you.
I would also appreciate it if you would check in in the event that we flood or make port or any other barge incident so I may ensure your well being.
[Thrawn clasps his hands in his lap and leans back as he listens.]
That is acceptable. I have no desire to engage in unnecessary violence, but given the capabilities and violent tendencies of others aboard this ship, I wish to request a blaster pistol or other energy weapon. Even one with only a stun setting will suffice.
Morality cannot exist in a vacuum. Indeed, it may be considered the point of morality: how our actions affect others and attempting to mitigate the damage.
There will always be those who are affected by my actions who disagree with them, such is the nature of the galaxy. I meant more that it has been a long time since anyone with any authority over me has had any consideration for the morality of my actions.
Yet, I find myself at the mercy of an entity with the apparent ability to circumvent death; one which believes I need to change.
[Thrawn closes the file and almost closes his eyes.]
I've been thinking about this, and the implications. Reading my file has been particularly informative.
I appreciate your desire for order, your methods for achieving it are unacceptable. The universe is infinitely complex, as are its occupants, imposing order on them without their consent is not only illogical but immoral.
A galaxy should be united under common goals and sentiments, not forced under it. Otherwise, the vulnerability you seek to destroy is only buried, not eliminated. Resentments grow stronger the longer they are left to fester.
There are always threats. And species are known to unite despite differences against them. Most species are able to grasp that it better to unite when forces against them are overwhelming. The effort required to subdue them will only serve to weaken them.
No. I have not. My position is that your choices and position regarding other species' sovereign rights is what brought you here and you will not be permitted to leave in a manner that guarantees your continued existence until you surrender that opinion. Adapt.
There is no reward without risk and your way carries a fundamental flaw. I will find you a book on the primary power in my sector of space. The Federation contains over a hundred and twenty worlds and it is still growing by consensus.
You have to weigh the value of your life, the pain you may spare those who you would subsume and the rights of those worlds to self-determination against those beliefs.
The position you have taken is egotistical and selfish.
I will take your request under advisement. [It's not a good idea to give him all the things, he'll get the book and holograms at home because that's a homesickness thing, but the rest is just luxuries.]

I can accept my death, or I can pursue the possibility of returning to life only to work against what I created during the last decades of my life.
It is not a choice to take lightly. I must weigh the value of my life against what I believe.
